Clay
Our spring water has lots of clay in it, and that is why it is never perfectly clear. We do not know the exact type of clay, but it does have a slight acqua tint when viewed in our five feet deep tanks. We do not test our clay, but we are assuming, since our water was tested annually from 1998 to 2004 when we had a bottle water license and it met all of the EPA requirements for chemical and mineral contaminants, the clay is also free of contaminants.
Recent research at the Arizona State University has found some type of clays actually kill the bacteria MRSA although noone know how it is done.
We occasionally clean our tanks and clay is on the bottom. You can also purchase this clay if interested. Keep in mind that since our clay is the sediment from the spring water and is not mined, it can also has have sediment from the topsoil which can include other things such as mushroom enzymes and plant residue and soil bacteria and other organisms.
If you are interested in more information about clay you can do an internet search using the words research, healing, clay, and Arizona State University.
