These come out in mid summer about the middle of July. They do not grow on stumps but are located through the woods in certain areas where there are red oaks. The taste is nothing like any other mushroom. It has a sweet taste and is very good. You have to try one, because they are indescribable. Although they are gold colored, they are hard to spot because they are normally covered with leaves. They do not have gills but raised ridges underneath.
