About Us
Prior to the 1944, Seven Creeks was the site of a handful of cottages rented by people from Steubenville during the summer. There were seven cottages and two houses up to the fourth creek crossing. Camp Jefferson was located at the fifth creek crossing and just up the road was Hawthorne Lodge, both known for their lively entertainment. The field above Camp Jefferson was used for horse shows.
Our dad. Tony, was born up at the first creek crossing in a farm now gone that was built by his father from Poland. As a kid, he used to work for some of the people who lived at the cottages doing chores such as white washing trees and cutting weeds. This spring was used by one of the cottages for drinking water until all of the cottages were washed away by the flood of the 1944. Tony bought this property in the 60's, which was used for cutting firewood and recreation. Jim, my brother, in 1997, while on strike at the mill, came up with the idea of selling spring water. We had the EPA come test the water first to make sure the water was okay to sell. A year later, after we built the spring house, bridge and water kiosk, we were inspected by the Ohio Department of Agriculture Food Safety Division and issued a state license to sell spring water to the public. The date was May 27, 1998, our dad's birthday. If you should have any any additional information about the history of Seven Creeks, such as stories or pictures, send them to us and we will post them here.
